Time Vampires are killing your business (and they’re not what you think).
Here’s how I finally broke free and started making REAL progress on the things that actually matter:
You know the drill:
- Wake up with big ambitions
- Check email “real quick”
- Get sucked into admin work
- End the day exhausted but accomplished NOTHING meaningful
Sound familiar?
I used to think I was just bad at focus. Turns out, I was letting Time Vampires drain my most productive hours.
What are Time Vampires?
They’re those seductive little tasks that:
- Give you quick dopamine hits
- Feel like “real work”
- Are easy to justify
- Completely DESTROY your ability to achieve big goals
Email. Admin. Research rabbit holes. The new productivity app that promises to fix everything (hate that one).
Each one whispers: “Handle me first, then you’ll have clear space for the important stuff.”
It’s a LIE.
After building three companies, I finally discovered the truth: your big, meaningful work MUST come first.
Here’s the anti-vampire protocol I now use religiously:
- Identify your ONE Big Goal (write it down, make it specific)
- Break it into 3-hour chunks
- Schedule these chunks as the FIRST thing you do
- Create a Defensive Line so nobody can reach you
- Only allow Time Vampires AFTER you’ve put in your 3+ hours on meaningful work
The magic happens when you realize this: most Time Vampires simply evaporate if ignored.
That urgent email? Resolves itself.
That admin task? Has more flexibility than you think.
That research rabbit hole? Can wait until your creative energy is spent.
But your Big Goal? It will absolutely tank your business if neglected.
I had to learn this lesson the expensive way when my second business nearly hit a wall because I spent 8 months “staying busy” instead of tackling the market shift that was killing us.
The choice is yours:
Feed the Vampires OR Build your empire.
You can’t do both.
