“Sorry, you’re boring” (ouch)

“Sorry, you’re boring” (ouch)

You’re boring, and that’s why they aren’t buying.

Here’s how to create a elevator pitch so you can:

  • Close more sales
  • Raise capital faster
  • Make your marketing razor-sharp
  • Prep for a big exit

Seven steps:

  1. It’s not about you, it’s about THEM
Stop describing your job or what you sell. Talk about customer outcomes.
  2. Use a proven format as a hook: Who + Pain + Outcome + Unique Mechanism

Example: “I help _ avoid and get using _

  1. Storytelling magic: Make a client the hero. Use the next sentence to paint a before-and-after picture of a result a customer got.
  2. Clarity is king: Pass the “kids’ soccer game” test.
If a random parent can’t take what you said, and tell it to someone else so THEY understand it, simplify further.
  3. Memory hacks: Use rhymes, metaphors, and alliteration. It’ll stick in their heads more.
  4. The unique mechanism: Give your process for getting customers a result a name that sounds unique and gets them to as “how do you do that?”
  5. Test and iterate: Always be improving. Don’t just come up with one and never change.
Try different versions and track what works best.

EXAMPLE:
”I help entrepreneurs stop being stuck scale their business using the scientific method…” ← now you know what I do.

See what I did there?
